TAMARAMA

GET TO KNOW
THE AREA

Nestled between two rugged headlands, Tamarama is a small coastal neighbourhood where bronzed bodies pound the pavement that hugs the coastline from sunup to sundown. Tamarama Park, which flows down to the much loved beach, is regarded by locals as their private reserve.

Lifestyle

A quiet neighbourhood, Tamarama is perched on the rugged coastline between two famous neighbours, Bondi and Coogee Beaches. Although its neighbours garner most of the limelight, Tamarama draws attention in its own right.

By day, fitness junkies and casual strollers soak up the sun along the popular Coastal Walk or linger for a while on the sandy shores of Tamarama Beach or in adjoining Tamarama Park – which residents playfully refer to as ‘locals only’.

Mackenzies Bay, in all its beauty, is a rocky retreat away from the bustling path above. Every once in a while, the bay has a sand dump that turns it into a beach – no one knows when this will happen or how long it will last. Beach or Bay, locals and their four-legged friends come down to play year round.

Once a year, Sydneysiders flock to Tamarama for the much-loved Sculptures by the Sea, an outdoor exhibition that features over 100 local and international artists. During the rest of the year, all eyes are on its neighbours, which is where locals love to go to be immersed in some of Sydney’s best shopping, dining and drinking hotspots.

TAMARAMA BEACH AND TAMARAMA PARK

Often referred to as a ‘locals only’ stretch of the Coastal Walk, the small beach and adjoining park are popular with locals and visitors alike.

MACKENZIES BAY

An elusive part of Tamarama, you never know when the sand dump will come, turning this into a small beach, which can then disappear as fast as it arrived.
