STANMORE

GET TO KNOW
THE AREA

Stanmore is an endearing suburb that has been sitting quietly on the sidelines of some of Sydney’s vibrant and artistic neighbourhoods. But there is change in the air, as Stanmore’s emerging café and art scene is getting noticed. The network of streets are lined with Victorian terraces and charming cottages, all of which adds to the village-like ambience of this inner-west suburb.

Lifestyle

Originally a stomping ground for European immigrants and students, Stanmore has evolved into a neighbourhood that’s charming and quaint with an element of grunge.

Bordered by the funky and vibrant neighbourhoods of Newtown, Enmore and Marrickville, locals have their pick of an eclectic mix of dining, drinking and performing arts establishments. That’s not to say that Stanmore doesn’t have its own intimate café and art culture, some of which are well and truly on the hipster radar.

Home to prestigious day and boarding school, Newington College and its sprawling grounds, Stanmore is also serviced by two primary schools that are situated on the edge of Stanmore Village and the manicured gardens of Weekley Park. Stanmore Train Station has direct links to the city and Strathfield, and buses connect locals with neighbouring suburbs.

One of Stanmore’s biggest drawcards is its proximity to Sydney’s CBD and educational corridor which houses some of Sydney’s top institutions – The University of Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney, as well as the renowned Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Dubbed as one of the inner-west’s most sought-after suburbs, Stanmore proudly retains its working-class and European roots.
