HUSKISSON

GET TO KNOW
THE AREA

Sitting pretty along the shores of Jervis Bay, Huskisson is a sleepy seaside town with all the perks of urban living. On-trend cafes and bars, foreshore parks, sun-kissed beaches and meandering waterways. And all with Jervis Bay’s stunning wilderness right on its doorstep – life is good in Husky.

Lifestyle

Picture perfect and care-free, Huskisson is all about sun-loving days on the South Coast of New South Wales. Bounded by national parks and the waters of Jervis Bay, Huskisson is beautifully positioned to capitalise on all that the Shoalhaven region has to offer. Around here, life is meant to be enjoyed at a much slower pace – a quiet seaside village with spacious foreshore parks, mangrove boardwalks and leisurely beaches of fine white sand.

But when it comes to water-based activities, there is no holding back. From wildlife cruises and fishing charters to swimming, diving, kayaking, boating, and stand-up paddleboarding, there is plenty of fun to be had. The town itself boasts on-trend cafes and eateries that sit alongside enduring shop fronts and tour-based companies who draw attention to the area’s standout features, be it Jervis Bay Marine Park or nearby Booderee National Park. The monthly Huskisson Markets are always a hit, especially during the summer months when the local population swells with holiday-goers.

Right in the middle of two major cities – a two-and-a-half-hour drive either way to Sydney and Canberra – Huskisson has long been a standout holiday destination. And although it’s a seasonal town to many, to those who call Husky home year-round, it’s an unbeatable lifestyle of ease and pleasure.

Neighbours

Life in Huskisson has always revolved around the bay. And rightfully so. From shipbuilding to fishing to tourism, locals live and breathe the coastal lifestyle. Year-round, there is a solid community that’s made up of growing families and retirees, some who have been in the area for generations, and newbies who have embraced seaside living. Come summertime though, the town swells with holiday-goers.

JERVIS BAY MARINE PARK

Huskisson is the launching pad for many wildlife adventures, particularly to Jervis Bay Marine Park. Teeming with playful wildlife – bottlenose dolphins, fur seals and little penguins - it’s the perfect spot for snorkelling, diving and cruising. From June to November, the majestic humpback and southern right whales become the star of the show during their annual migration.

BEACHES

Huskisson itself boasts several beaches, and they’re all within an easy bike ride (or walk) of one another. From the town centre to Sailors Beach, lush parklands spill over onto white sandy shores. And moments away is Hyams Beach and Booderee National Park, both renowned for their white sand, turquoise water and native wildlife.

NATIONAL PARKS

A short 15-minute drive away is Booderee National Park, a stunning destination that's renowned for its white sand, turquoise water and untamed bushland. Inside the national park is Jervis Bay village, Murrays Beach (popular for its boat ramp, snorkelling, and swimming) and Greenpatch Point.

SEAFOOD

Whether you opt for the casual fish n’ chip takeaway joint or the on-trend eatery and bar, in Huskisson, the seafood is ocean-fresh, and it’s good. Really good. Our pick is The Quarters, located in a 100-year-old coastal cottage, this stylish eatery is all about fresh from the trawler seafood and farmgate produce.
