My Empirical Life’s Guide to Bondi
From Croatia to New York, London, LA and now Sydney, My Empirical Life’s stylish founder Tanja Gacic has travelled the world over, appearing on the pages of fashion magazines and campaigns for International fashion labels.
Setting full-time modelling aside for the time being, Tanja's love for photography, writing and fashion plays out on the pages of her online lifestyle blog. Tanja has grown My Empirical Life into being one of Australia’s leading style blogs, collaborating with the likes of Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Tommy Hilfiger and Cartier.
A true Bondi local, Tanja and her daughter Coco have completely embraced the coastal lifestyle, giving us a round-up of her favourite hangouts.
Q&A with Tanja…
How long have you been a Bondi local?
I first moved to Bondi in 1997. So, it has been roughly 21 years that I’ve been in the area, that is when I haven't been living overseas.
Tell us three things you love about living/working in Bondi?
The lifestyle is unbeatable! I have an office at home, so I get to drop my daughter off at school then go to pilates. I like to take a swim and sauna at Icebergs Pool and head home to work on the computer. I love staying local and not having to drive or get out of my swimmers.
What keeps you living in Bondi?
The beach! The views! The gorgeous sunshine and chilled out vibes.
What is a Bondi local gem?
Icebergs Pool and the Bondi to Bronte walk are unbeatable and cheap ways to expose yourself to natural beauty every day.
What has become a weekend ritual?
Waking up late and making a delicious breakfast, then walking to the produce markets to get food for the week with my boyfriend and daughter. A swim somewhere along the Bondi to Bronte walk, a seafood lunch, naps in the afternoon, then dinner with friends at our place watching the sunset.
There are so many changes taking place in Bondi. How is this affecting the vibe of the neighbourhood?
It is busier for sure, but during the week, it’s still the same old laid-back place. I like the fact that Bondi has so many more restaurants now, so you have to take the good with the bad. I tend to stay away from Bondi Beach on the weekends, we'd rather head to Tamarama, Bronte or the rocks beneath our place for a dip.
You know you’re a Bondi local when...
You walk back home from yoga barefoot drinking a Matcha latte, lamenting the fact you need to put make-up on to go to the city for meetings. Or when you come home from a long day and debate if the party back in town is really worth the Uber ride out of the hood.
