The Leigh Campbell Edit: Her Go-to Double Bay Hangouts

Elegant and fashionable, Double Bay has a sense of charm that makes Sydneysiders sit up and take notice. High-end designer stores, a deluge of salons and an emerging dining and bar scene are the pulse of this bayside neighbourhood gem. Showing us around Double Bay is Executive Editor at Mamamia, Leigh Campbell, who lives and breathes all things local. We bring you her ultimate edit of go-to hangouts, to inspire your own weekend wishlist...

Summer shopping?

  • I love Pam Pam. It’s the best store for swimwear and resort. I have bought a few fun pairs of earrings from there, too.
  • Scanlan Theodore always has something amazing, but take your credit card.
  • It’s also great to have a Witchery down the road for affordable last minute items, and I also love IRO.

Weekend brunch?

My fave in Double Bay is Little Jean because the food is great, but more importantly, the staff are fun and nice, which isn’t all that common in the area.

Hidden gems?

Soy Noodle Bar on New South Head Road, opposite The Sheaf – it’s just a hole-in-the-wall Thai place but they do the best laksa I have had.

Local beauty services and treatments?

I get my brows done every second Saturday at Kristin Fisher Eyebrows. My hair grows so quickly and having dark features means being slack on maintenance isn’t an option. The salon has such a fun and buzzy vibe, so another reason I go so frequently is to just hang out!

Local Sunday guide?

Sunday, we like to be adventurous and go as far as Rose Bay, a 10-minute walk, for breakfast at Sonoma. Wild! If the weather is good we’re usually at Red Leaf Pool or Seven Shillings Beach in Point Piper which is a few moments’ walk from our house. Or we don’t leave the house and have gin and tonics on the balcony.
