Byron Street is at the centre of it all, with federation shopfronts that have been beautifully restored to house on-trend cafes and boutique homeware stores. Bangalow’s creative energy spills over into the many markets, festivals and events that are held throughout the year. From the weekly farmers market to the food and music festivals, and of course the annual Billy Cart Derby, which has locals racing their homemade billy carts down the main street of Bangalow.
Bangalow Hall is a cultural hub, and Bangalow Parklands (a.k.a. Bangalow Weir) is revered amongst the locals for its lush green space, playground, museum and a calm swimming spot. But when locals crave some surf action, Byron Bay is just down the road, ready to deliver on the goods.

Area features
FOODIE HOTSPOT
Bangalow has earned a spot on the Northern River’s foodie trail, and rightfully so. With so much organic produce grown nearby, cafes and eateries have curated a menu around what’s in season. To get a taste of what we are talking about, Bangalow’s very own Sample Food Festival puts all the local cafes, restaurants and food producers in one location so that you can sample select dishes.
MARKETS
Surrounded by land that provides incredible produce (macadamia, fruits, vegetables, coffee, dairy and meat), the weekly Farmers Market is the place to stock up on groceries. While the Bangalow Markets (held monthly) puts local artisans (clothing, homewares, crafts and produce) in the spotlight.
COMMUNITY
Being the small town that it is, Bangalow has a well-connected community that is anchored by the local primary school and many events that are held throughout the year – from traditional agricultural shows to barbeque and bluegrass festivals to the Billy Cart Derby.
