Get out of your comfort zone with some invigorating laps out in the open water. Setting out from the North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club each Friday morning at around 6.30am, swimmers are taught to negotiate surf breaks, identify rips and sandbanks as well as improving your fitness in the ocean environment. To join these sessions, swimmers must be confident that they can swim for a continuous 1-kilometre without needing to stop. If you’re not quite up to that, the Mermaid Swim Academy also offers adult pool training sessions twice-weekly at Icebergs Pool in Bondi.

The ‘world’s hardest cardio class’ is the dream workout for those who thrive in a competitive environment. Broken up into stations of treadmills, rowing machines, free weights and TRX suspension equipment, each station is led by an instructor. With each gym-goer hooked up to a heart rate monitor, your efforts are immediately recorded and displayed on scoreboards around the room for everyone to see. Talk about motivation. This high-intensity interval workout has proven extremely popular for its ability to leave your body in a state of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) which encourages your system to continue burning calories at a higher than normal rate after exercise.

Perfect for those preparing for an arduous adventure ahead or simply looking to push themselves, the simulated altitude training to increase the body’s oxygen efficiency. Intermittent hypoxic training involves bi-weekly training in the altitude chamber which encourages the body to work harder than it otherwise would, burning 30% more calories and improving performance. Also promoting excess post oxygen consumption (EPOC), which encourages energy burning post workout.

The fitness centre also puts on the Corporate Fighter event, allowing amateurs to step into the ring for a 3 x 2-minute bout with another punter. The Fight Night events raise funds for a range of charities.

Dedicated purely to indoor cycling, the Infinite Cycle studio has created an entire experience for avid cyclists looking for a more engaging spin workout. With state of the art technology and responsive leaning bikes, Infinite Cycle is Australia's only virtual cycle studio.
