Gidget’s combines two of our favourite things: specialty coffee and all day breakfast, making this a Thirroul café a must-go. On the food front, they’ve really upped the ante on all the usual brunch suspects, adding creative twists and using locally sourced produce. For the little ones, the box of toys should keep them entertained if you want to stay a while, which you most definitely will.
Much like the name would suggest, Honest Dons serve good, honest food with an unpretentious vibe and laid back, but attentive service. Food ranges from wholesome nourish bowls to the not so wholesome, but ridiculously delicious burgers and chips. Puppychinos are an obvious drawcard for bringing your furry friends. Bonus awesomeness: they donate the money from puppychinos to a local animal shelter.
The Bucks family have been in this building since 1940. Family hospitality runs deep in this local institution and you'd be hard pressed not to find a local that doesn't frequent this cafe slash bar. Coffee cafe by day but by night, Bucks is the go-to place for friends to gather, drink and be very, very merry. Craft beers and Australian wines make for a great accompaniment to their antipasti plates.
Gelato Emporium, located in Bulli Tops is a one-stop-shop for artisan gelato, coffee, gourmet pantry items and uninterrupted views over the Illawarra. More than just a rest-stop for drivers en route to Wollongong, this convenient gelateria located at the Illawarra Gateway is well-worth a visit for locals as well.
Bread, Espresso &
Bread, Espresso &, is as alternative and hipster as it’s jumbled name suggests.They serve hearty cafe fare and organic Allpress coffee. They’re also super eco-friendly, with a discount for keep-cup-bringers and they give away their leftover coffee grounds to avid composters and gardeners. This place is so lovely, you won’t want to ever leave.
