A Northern Beaches favourite, Smalltown is the ideal, low-key spot to soak up the Sunday sun as you gorge on their bacon & egg roll. While we needn’t sing the praises of this veritable brunching institution, The Grounds of Alexandria ensures that the humble bacon and egg roll lives up to it’s revered surroundings. It’s a guarantee that you won’t be needing lunch.

This unassuming French bakery at Mosman’s Spit Junction is home to an unadorned roll that is delicious in its simplicity. You’ll feel like you’ve hit the jackpot with their succulent bacon, runny eggs and a roll that is so perfectly crisp yet soft that it must have been sent from the heavens. Be sure to take a baguette or five home if you know what’s good for you.

With such stiff competition in the enclave of Cammeray, the guys at Laneway is smart to up their game when it comes to the bacon & egg roll. Titled the ‘Good Morning Burger’, Laneway matches your bacon, eggs and aioli, then raises you tomato, cheese, avo and an indulgent hash-brown. Also serving Parkers Organic Iced Teas and juices, you can feel virtuous about your breakfast choice because #balance.

One of Chatswood’s most talked about venues, Chimichuri does Australian and Latin American fusion to a tee. Like the rest of their menu, to say they do the humble B&E roll well is an understatement. Teaming chilli fried egg, crispy bacon, pickled slaw and ranch dressing on a brioche bun, the Chimichuri House Roll will have you at hello.

The slick outfit behind 5th Earl in the buzzing suburb of Rosebery brings delectable breakfast fare to an elegant setting.
