Whether it’s a drink special or a full-blown party, Sydney is getting into the spooky Halloween spirit from 25th October (yes, that’s right, celebrations are kicking off early this year!). And the next weekend falls on the Mexican celebration, Day of the Dead, so we thought we would embrace this eerie week head on. Now go sort your costumes!
Day of the Dead and Halloween will come together in a weekend long celebration at The Argyle. Both Friday and Saturday nights will bring party people together for two massive dance parties. DJ’s Helena Ellis and Keyes will takeover the venue on Friday night, with internationally renowned DJ Tigerlily headlining the Saturday night festivities. Dress to impress and prepare yourself for a Halloween experience you’ll never forget.

The Beresford Dog Show is back for a special 'Howl-o-ween' edition in partnership with DOGUE. On Sunday 27th October from 11am, guests can come and strut their pooch, mutt or pup in their spookiest costume. They’ll have entertainment, market stalls and great doggie prizes for best dressed, best owner and pup lookalike, and rescue story.

Day of the Dead enthusiasts should head to El Camino Cantina on Saturday 2nd November. The night is jampacked with festivities – from 6pm sign up for free Day of the Dead face painting, and later in the evening, enter into the fiery chilli competition and win a $50 bar voucher. There are best-dressed prizes, a DJ till late, and XO Patron Café shots ($10) to keep you going.

There’s a nightmare on Commonwealth Street, as our favourite spooky holiday rolls around once again. If a nostalgic Halloween is what you’re after, the trick is knowing where to go, and this year the infamous Golden Age Cinema are teaming up with Four Pillars Gin to host a showing of David Lynch’s Blue Velvet. From 6pm on Halloween, movie-goers will be treated to this cinematic treasure, and an array of themed gin-infused cocktails. Tickets are $25 each but you’ll have to get in quick before they sell out!
