Mr. G’s

If the Intercontinental in Double Bay is the epitome of luxury, then it’s only fitting that the restaurants that reside in it are equally as lavish.  Mr G’s fits the bill – a classic New York steakhouse decked out with intimate leather booths, lush cushions and swathes of rich mahogany. You know the type (but seriously, they nail it). This distinct styling is the perfect backdrop for their meat-heavy menu and whisky-driven cocktail list.

Saké Restaurant & Bar

As one of Australia’s most awarded Japanese restaurants, it's little surprise they've also set up a location inside Double Bay's exquisite InterContinental Hotel. It’s a culinary experience that attracts foodies from all over, thanks to its washoku (traditional Japanese cuisine) and mind-blowingly long saké list.

Matteo

With an alfresco deck and classic Spritz-ridden cocktail list, this 150-seat chic Italian eatery was made for long, leisurely lunches. Their simple, yet authentic plates also channel the Amalfi Coast – with crispy woodfired pizzas as the stars of the show. Don’t be surprised if you take a look at the menu and find yourself ordering everything from antipasti, pizza, secondi and contorni. We won’t blame you if you’re still there for aperitivo hour!

China Diner

Known for being a popular date night destination, China Diner dishes up Pan-Asian cuisine in a dark, ambient setting. The mood is cosy, and the dumplings are out of this world. Opt for streetside seating to indulge in a side of people watching as you dine.

CHAR & CO

Brazilian churrasco, served Double Bay style – this South American steakhouse is as stylish as they come. Interiors are sophisticated, with a focus on timber furnishings – a nod to the wood-fired nature of the restaurant – and the succulent meats are cooked barbeque-style, over locally sourced ironbark. Instead of offering an 'all you can eat' option (this is Double Bay after all), they keep it classy and instead offer 'continuous service'. Whatever you call it, our advice is to go hungry.

Very chic, very Double Bay; Bibo Wine Bar is so worth a look. And for more than just their impressive wine list (they do have over 150 bottles on the menu though). Expect modern European share plates like beetroot with smoked labneh and suckling pig with cumquat. Can’t decide what to order? Opt for their Chef’s Menu and savor a range of their signature dishes.

This sun-drenched café-slash-restaurant pulls in the crowds for its creative menu and modern, yet beautifully subtle design. Although the space feels bright and airy, it still lends itself well to an intimate dinner. Dine on their sustainable, ethical menu which includes showstopping dishes like wild trout tartare, ricotta gnocchi and succulent eight-hour-roasted spring lamb.
