Cheap and Cheerful Dumpling and Noodle Eateries

In a city that’s mastered Asian cuisine, we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to getting our foodie fix. Today, we’re turning our attention to cheap and cheerful eats – because dumplings and noodles taste even better when you get change back from a $10 note.
With prices this low, it’d be rude not to indulge. Ready, set, feast!

Chinese Noodle Restaurant

In the heart of Haymarket, Chinese Noodle Restaurant is no frills, no fuss, and deliciously authentic. The kitschy space is packed to the rafters every day, and unsurprisingly, so you can feast on a dozen dumplings and hand-pulled noodles for the $8-10 mark. The noodles are made fresh daily, and you can BYO.

New Shanghai

Another Ashfield gem, New Shanghai’s setting is colourful and vibrant, pointing to 1930s Shanghai, and features a dumpling theatre for diners to watch the chefs in action. If you’re with a group (or just really, really hungry), order the pork and chive, crystal prawn and chicken and celery dumplings to start, then go from there.
