The Best Bars for Two-up This Anzac Day

Anzac Day. It’s the only day of the year when Aussies can legally bet on coin tossing, and locals from all over love to get involved with the tradition. Better still, a lot of venues will be giving back to various Veterans charities through two-up. Post dawn service, here’s where to go to flip coins come April 25.

Fortune of War, The Rocks

With its history and old-world charm, Fortune of War is an ideal spot to raise a glass to the diggers. The bar and bistro will open at 6am for breakfast (you can’t go wrong with the bacon and egg roll!), and two-up begins at 11am.

137 George Street, The Rocks

The Argyle, The Rocks

Opening its doors at 8am on Anzac Day, The Argyle is the perfect place to pick up a BBQ brekky roll just after the dawn service. The Argyle’s courtyard transforms into a giant two-up arena from 1pm to 3pm, with live music and entertainment throughout the day.

18 Argyle Street, The Rocks

The Australian Heritage Hotel, The Rocks

With the biggest outdoor two-up arena in the city, The Australian Heritage Hotel is a great place to play – or just watch – the legendary game. The pub is also offering a Diggers Breakfast from 6am, and a special performance from the Scot's Marching Band.

100 Cumberland Street, The Rocks

The Glenmore Hotel, The Rocks

If you decide to go to the Glenmore for Anzac Day, know that a) you’re probably going to have to wait in line for a little while, and b) it will be worth it. Even if you don’t play, the rooftop is a winner with two-up starting from midday.

96 Cumberland Street, The Rocks

The Tudor, Redfern

Salute our diggers this ANZAC Day at Redfern’s local gem, The Tudor. Get into the spirit with a game of two-up in the courtyard and cheers to our brave servicemen and women with a cold brew.
