About Life Double Bay
If there was a star of the health food stores, About Life would be it. With several stores throughout Sydney, About Life have mastered the combination of organic grocery store meets café. Not only do they stock ethical, sustainable and organic products but their café produces some of the tastiest meals around.
Simmone Logue Double Bay
Simmone Logue is a name that is synonymous with beautiful wholesome meals – so much so that she has multiple cookbooks and two cafes. In Double Bay her store-slash-café has the homestyle cooking edge that we’ve all come to love, and the best part is you can take some of the goodness home with you.
Hailing from his family’s pizzeria in Sydney’s Inner West, owner Mark Paterno’s pizza making skills are simply impressive. Trained by a world champion pizza maker in Italy and having worked in various pizzeria’s in Australia, Paterno has now settled in Double Bay and needless to say, Arte Bianca pizzas are amazing.
A mainstay on the Double Bay foodie scene, Café Perons has been around since the 80s, but everything about this place is stylish and contemporary. Their menu has a strong lean towards health-conscious eating and they cater to multiple diets, so the vegans, vegetarians and gluten intolerant amongst us will be well looked after.
Chargrill Charlie's Woollahra
Upping the game of the local chicken shop, Chargrill Charlies pairs gourmet salads with succulent barbeque and Portuguese style chicken. Although they’re a takeaway chain that has swept across Sydney, Chargrill Charlies hasn’t lost the local feel that the fabled neighbourhood chicken stores are known for.
Every neighbourhood needs a good Thai joint, and Kukthai is it for Woollahra. A bustling little eatery along luxurious Queen Street, Kukthai serves traditional Thai dishes in a contemporary setting. The banquet menus are designed for two, otherwise they have an extensive list of curries, stir fries, soups, noodles and grills.
Pasta Pantry Woollahra
This shopfront along Queen Street is not only teeming with carby goodness, but it also churns out coffee from its curbside window. Pasta Pantry’s has readymade pasta dishes and salads that rotate regularly. It’s an easy stop to get your caffeine fix and pick up dinner, all at the same time.
Bottom of the Harbour Seafoods
This Hamptons style institution is chic, low-key and has idyllic views of Balmoral Beach and the harbour. The hordes of people waiting around for their food is a testament to how good this place is. Not into seafood, that’s ok because non-seafood and vegetarian options are also available. Grab a seat at their curbside seating or settle by the water’s edge.
Chargrill Charlie's Mosman
A takeaway shop offering healthy and delicious on the go options. This is one of the few chicken shops where the sides and salads are just as good as their chargrilled chicken. The combo meals are a must - because you're going to want to try a bit of everything.
La Repubblica Kiosk
Attached to its well-established, older sibling La Republica, this beachside kiosk promises equally as delicious on the go snacks. With in-house roasted coffee, a selection of freshly squeezed juices and authentic Italian gelato, you can grab all the essentials for a beach picnic.
Pasta Zu has been providing the carb lovers of Mosman their fix for over 25 years and there’s a good reason that they keep coming back for their Italian fix. Primarily a takeaway pasta bar, you can grab a mix and match box to go or if gelato is more your thing, these guys are scooping up the good stuff too!
The Classic Cupcake Co.
The Classic Cupcake Co's founder Anna Eden still uses her grandmother’s recipes for her cupcakes but keeps things contemporary by using ethically sourced local free range eggs, and sustainably farmed cacao from South America. Anna arrived in Sydney from England, and has baked cupcakes for the Royal Family so you know these cupcakes are going to be fit for a queen, aka you.
