Prince Dining Room
This St Kilda icon has been reinvigorated with a fresh, accessible menu and some seriously tasty cocktails.
Prince Dining Room
Having undergone several menu makeovers and venue facelifts, this new chapter for Prince Dining Room might just be its most exciting yet.
Food
The Prince has finally unveiled its reimagined restaurant, and it's elevated, beautifully-designed and abound with fresh, produce-forward dishes and delicious citrus-inspired cocktails. Prince Dining Room's new menu, from Executive Chef Dan Cooper, celebrates flavours and spices from the Mediterranean, with a focus on cooking over flames.
Snack on southern calamari with red pepper and spiced almond or beef tartare with a gruyere puff, or opt for something more substantial and try the Tasmanian lamb rump with smoked eggplant and tahini.
“Sitchu Tip: If you're just looking for nibbles, order the smoked swordfish with fried potato and golden trout roe. It's absolutely moreish and quite filling.”
Design
Much like the menu, the restaurant's fit out is elevated and considered. A gorgeous marble staircase guides you to the circular bar, where a muted palette, exposed brick and black and white photography nod to the building's storied history.
In the dining room, an Art Deco S-shaped banquette .which is laden with fresh Australian natives, creates privacy at the tables while bringing the glamour. The space is flooded with natural light and curves reference the seaside locale and the building's original era.
Yet the ambiance is still laid-back and welcoming.
The team at Prince Dining Room are fiercely passionate and you can expect the same exceptional treatment whether you're popping in for an after-work tipple or booking out the venue for a special occasion.
