Possessing that elusive mix of grunge and glamour, Prahran is very much neighbouring South Yarra’s edgier younger sibling. Not only does local designer/stylist Lucy Fenton have an impeccable eye for style, but she has her finger on the pulse when it comes to navigating this vibrant Inner City enclave. We had a chat with the founder of homewares mecca Fenton & Fenton, to get her hit list of stylish places to dine, shop and hang out in Prahran and its neighbouring suburbs.

Sunday session

It’s hard to beat Stokehouse on a Sunday arvo in summer.

Kept secret in your local neighbourhood?  

The Little Wax Room – Emily is an eyebrow queen.

Ways to spend a Saturday in your neighbourhood?  

Head to Hank Marvin in the late morning – food trucks, music, face painting in beautiful Alma Park.

Locals farmers market and what do you pick up when there? 

We don’t get the farmers market often but Prahran Market is great for all your fresh produce – including flowers for home and the store.

Vegan/vegetarian restaurants? 

Grey Cells Green in Windsor is apparently the new vegan hot spot. I haven’t tried it yet but the girls at work tell me that the vegan lasagne is a must.

Gyms/fitness studios?

Here Yoga – Malvern. And my sister (Emma Fenton) for PT at Recreation Malvern.

Outdoor places to workout

St Kilda Botanical Gardens – more so to chill out than work out.

Beaches come summer time? 

We head down to Angelsea over January, Point Roadknight is great with the kids!
