With restrictions easing from the start of June, now is the time to get out there and support your favourite restaurants, cafés and bars as they reopen for business – and enjoy a delicious meal without worrying about washing up.
This eclectic St Kilda izakaya is back in business! Sweeping vistas of Port Phillip Bay are a perfect backdrop for their crowd-pleasing offering of sushi, sake and share plates. They do it all, from tempura and yakitori, to gyoza and don, and they do it well – delivering precise, punchy flavours that go down a treat with house cocktails or a nip of Japanese whisky.
12 The Esplanade, St Kilda
The schmick, newly renovated Prince Public Bar is open for first drinks once more as of 1st June. For the first three weeks they’ll be limited to 20 diners, so book in to guarantee your spot for cold beers, classic pub feeds and warm bistro fare. They’ll also be serving brekky and takeaway coffee from 7am, so you can stop by on your walk to the promenade.

One of Melbourne’s most Instagrammed cafés, The Kettle Black, is now accepting reservations for breakfast and lunch. Cosy up in one of their sun dappled tables and order all the brunch classics you’ve been missing – we’ll be heading straight for their famed ricotta hotcake, colourfully scattered with a rainbow assortment of berries, petals, seeds and nuts.

Local fave The Espy have officially reopened their doors! Book a table at this iconic seaside pub for cheeky sundowners, and mid-week feasts.
11 The Esplanade, St Kilda
Ripponlea’s neighbourhood charmer is welcoming locals and visitors again from 3rd June. You’ll be able to book in for multiple seatings at the comfy yet stylish resto-bar, with cocktail hour kicking off at 4:30pm. The full a la carte menu will be back, alongside specials like Pasta Wednesdays and $10 Negroni Thursdays.
15 Glen Eira Road, Ripponlea
Ronnie di Stasio’s institution of Italian dining and drinking is back for dine-in as of 1st June. A long boozy lunch or classy dinner, aided by bottle after bottle of the cellar’s finest wines – we can’t think of a better way to re-enter restaurant life.
