Don’t be fooled, there’s ample pedigree in the simple, satisfying Japanese toasts and sandos at Lokall. Owners Steve Lim and Dean Little met in the kitchens at Supernormal – the latter was also head chef at Cumulus Inc – before opening up their own place in busy Burnley. Their signature three-cheese toastie melts cheddar, mozzarella, Grana Padano and gooey béchamel over fluffy house-made shokupan bread, while the chicken in their katsu sandos is brined in koji for a whole day. The spacious corner café matches a sleek concrete and wood interior with handblown lights and floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a relaxed space from which to enjoy their menu of next-gen toasties, sandwiches and brown rice bowls.
