INNER CITY

THINGS TO DO IN INNER CITY

With Brisbane River and the sparkling lights of the CBD as its backdrop, Brisbane's Inner City has so much going on day and night.

In a city that has been commanding a lot of attention of late, Brisbane's Inner City is a trendy metropolis with a whole lot of urban cool. From Brisbane's bustling CBD to Fortitude Valley's lively Brunswick Street and Teneriffe's swoon-worthy riverside location, there’s a whole lot going on that has people from all over coming back for more.

Perfectly positioned along Brisbane River, in this pocket of the city, you'll find it all; entertainment precincts, cultural centres, foodie destinations, pulsing nightlife, walking trails, lush gardens and fashionable shopping precincts. And all without compromising on the easy-going nature this city is renowned for.

Standing out from the crowd is Fortitude Valley – an inner-city suburb where anything goes. Yet still, it doesn't leave Brisbane city in its wake. The city itself has a whole lot to boast about, and when you're not caught up in the bustle of these two centres, Spring Hill and Teneriffe offers a welcomed change of pace.

When you're looking for things to do in Brisbane's Inner City, we have you well and truly covered.

Foodie's Delight

Brisbane's Inner City is leading the way in all thing’s food. And to get a taste of what we're talking about, you only need to head down to Burnett Lane in the CBD, which is a narrow strip with a booming foodie scene. In Fortitude Valley, James Street Precinct has leading restaurants and gourmet food. Bakery Lane is a Melbourne-inspired foodie hotspot, and the Asian Food Markets around China Town Mall are mouth-watering good. Teneriffe holds its own with popular bars and cafes housed within the historic Woolstore buildings along Vernon Terrace. And for dining with a view, Kangaroo Point is where it's at.

Fortitude Valley

Minutes from the city, Fortitude Valley (aka The Valley) has quite the reputation, thanks in large part to Brunswick and Ann Streets nightlife and creative scene. The Valley is also home to China Town Mall and Bakery Lane – a stylish retail hangout by day and bars and small-scale restaurants by night. A blend of grunge and high-end sophistication, James Street Precinct is all about good food and high-end fashion.

Nightlife

The nightlife in Brisbane's Inner City is well and truly thriving, and the epicentre of it all is in Fortitude Valley, with Brunswick and Ann Streets housing the city's best after-hour venues – from small bars to pulsing night clubs to cocktail lounges, some with a bit of grit and others with a sophisticated edge. Whatever it is you're into, Fortitude Valley delivers. Brisbane's CBD has ramped things up with underground bars and riverside and laneway hangouts. While over in Kangaroo Point, The Story Bridge Hotel and The Pineapple Hotel are local brewing institutions, and being close to the Gabba, these venues are packed come game day.

Shop 'til You Drop

When in need of retail therapy, Brisbane's Inner North is at the top of its game, with Queen Street Mall in Brisbane's CBD, a pedestrian strip, being home to the trio of shopping centres; the Myer Centre, Queen's Plaza and Wintergarden. For high-end fashion, or something with a bit of sass, James Street Precinct and Bakery Lane in Fortitude Valley is your go-to.

The Great Outdoors

The City Botanic Gardens sits on the bend of the river, which it takes full advantage of with riverside walking paths that link to the Riverstage, a highly rated outdoor venue. With Victoria Park and Roma Street Parklands, Spring Hill has plenty of green space to go around. In Teneriffe, people are pounding the pavement from the break of dawn along Teneriffe Walk while across the river much of the riverbank in Kangaroo Point is dedicated to public parks, running tracks, bike trails, kayaking, abseiling and rock climbing.

Foodie hotspots and late-night revelry to fashionable shopping strips and sun-kissed walking trails – there are so many things to do in Brisbane's Inner City.
