Have a hankering for a sandwich? Scope out Brisbane’s best-kept secrets by visiting one of these cafes known for the best sandwiches in Brisbane.

Melt Brothers

Fact: Sandwiches taste better when someone else makes them for you. Crafting the perfect sandwich is definitely an art form, so we took it upon ourselves to meet the artists behind those memorable mouthfuls.

You’ll need never make your own lunch again, because we’ve found the best sandwiches in Brisbane to satiate your sanga cravings. Fancy or classic, breakfast or brunch, there’s something for every appetite in our Brisbane sandwich guide!

Clarence Corner Deli

Clarence Corner Deli

After a very successful start to their tenancy in Woolloongabba, the team behind Clarence Restaurant has expanded their offering to include a deli and sandwich shop. You won’t just find the standard ham and cheese here, but instead, find yourself feasting on venison Reuben, blood pudding and fried egg rolls, or a cheesy roast pumpkin with stracciatella and pesto. These creative twists on the humble lunchtime meal have got to be some of the best sandwiches in Brisbane right now.

615 Stanley Street, Woolloongabba

Wilburs

Wilburs

Have you been to Wilburs? If you’re hunting for the best sandwiches in Brisbane, you’d best add this deli to your hit list. Think hot sopressa, crusty bread kissed with extra virgin olive oil, a handful of chips on the side, and some of the best fresh-made lemonade you’ve ever tasted. Wilburs is the place to hit for unpretentious comfort food, made well and made with love. See you there for a sando!

42 Wilbur Street, Holland Park

Deli Dakota

Deli Dakota

A favourite amongst locals, Deli Dakota is a hidden gem on the south side of Brisbane, serving up a delectable mix of classic sandwiches. Toss up between the BBQ brisket or the DFC (Dakota fried chicken), or opt for a vegan banh mi if you’re craving some sesame-crusted tofu and mushroom pate. You’ll soon discover why Deli Dakota’s regulars call these sandwiches some of the best in Brisbane!

30 Badminton Street, Mount Gravatt East

NUG

NUG. General Store

Who doesn’t love a good sando, deli, grocer and all round good time? Trick question; no one. Make sure you mosey down to the end of Bakery Lane in Fortitude Valley to discover the gorgeous general store that is NUG.

Not only is the store stocked with artisanal goodies primed to make you the host with the most, but their counter is stocked with tasty sandwiches, toasties and salads. Expect thick, crusty slices of freshly made focaccia stuffed with goodness like Mortadella stracciatella, or smoked pork cheek pepperoni and parmigiana.

Sunny Side Sandwiches

Sunny Side Sandwiches

There’s something very wholesome about the humble sandwich and Sunny Side approaches this fact with a consistent and pragmatic approach: by making feel-good food. There’s no shortage of sandwiches to choose from on the menu, with hot sandos, deli sandos and toasties to name a few. Our favourite is the eggplant parm, served with tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil and pickled red peppers.

142 Newmarket Road, Windsor

DannyBoys

DannyBoys

DannyBoys make rockstar sandwiches. Even if you’re avoiding gluten or are a herbivore, there’s something everyone here. Founder Daniel McKennariey spent years working as a chef on super yachts and private estates throughout the USA, Europe and the Caribbean. He discovered that while each country had its own cuisine, they all love a sandwich!

The menu spans sandwiches, brekkie bites, flat grills, soups, sides and sweets, but our pick is the Gringo: chicken breast, Mexican spices, Monterey Jack cheese, tomatoes, jalapenos, red onion, sweetcorn, lettuce and chipotle mayonnaise. Plus, you can swap out your bread for a lettuce wrap any time you’re feeling like keeping it light.

Melt Brothers

Melt Brothers

Inspired by the street food of New York alleyways, owners Justin and Felix wanted to bring the ultimate comfort food back to Australian shores, much to the delight of our tastebuds! We’re dying to try the M.C. cheesy, the ultimate indulgent sandwich featuring macaroni and cheese, bacon bits, smoky BBQ, aioli, mozzarella and aged cheddar.

Gluten-free and vegan friends are catered for here too, with vegan cheese available to add on to make your toastie as melty as it should be. Visit a Melt Brothers near you and discover why these have made the cut as some of the best sandwiches in Brisbane.

Coffee Head Co

Coffee Head Co

The Coffee Head Co isn’t just known for their delicious and life-giving coffee, they’re also pros at whipping up gourmet toasties to satiate any appetite. The Cheese Louise is a tasty time (provolone, vintage cheddar cheese, raclette cheese, caramelised onion jam and dill) but we must also make mention of the classic cheese and vegemite for the true blue Aussie kids at heart.

Aged cheddar cheese and vegemite are smeared on artisanal sourdough to make a toastie that takes you back, now that makes for easily some of the best sandwiches in Brisbane.

62 Manning Street, South Brisbane

Fables Bar & Coffee

Fables Bar & Coffee

In case you missed it, the Princess Theatre has had a major glow-up, and Fables Bar & Cafe calls the Theatre home. It’s a charming two-story, old-world-style cafe serving up primo coffee, sandwiches and staples.

It’s hard to pick a winner out of the sandwiches here, but our go-to has been the roasted mushroom bun, with hummus, herbed mushrooms, roasted capsicum, greens and house-pickled red onions sandwiched between slices of freshly toasted milk bun. The spicy chicken katsu and classic Italian also go down a treat… what can we say, it’s hard to choose just one!

2/8 Annerley Road, Woolloongabba

Jocelyn’s Provisions

Jocelyn’s Provisions

Jocelyn’s tasty sweet treats have been bringing joy to the tastebuds of Newstead locals for years now and now they’re making every lunch break a delectable encounter with grab-and-go sandwiches awaiting you at their counter.

They’re always adding new sandwich options, but our current pick is a classic club sandwich, stuffed full of bacon, crunchy lettuce, tomato relish, creamy chicken and sweet pickles, all bundled up in two perfect slices of housemade pain de mie. That’s soft, slightly sweet, crustless bread for anyone who hasn’t binge-watched Emily In Paris.
