Bypass the tourist hubs and head straight to Brisbane’s Inner North
New Farm has been busy making a name for itself on the Brisbane’s bar and foodie scene. Far from being overshadowed by its neighbour, Fortitude Valley, New Farm takes it up a notch with its cultural precinct, lush parklands and leafy streetscapes. Brunswick Street is lined with shopfronts, cafes, dining venues and an arthouse cinema, while James Street is brimming with designer stores, trendy bar, cafes and a dining scene that’s drawing attention to itself city-wide. Antipasto boards at the bar to hearty meals in the restaurant, but when the weekend roles around breakfast steals the limelight. Complete with river views, WATT is a dining destination every day of the week, but Sunday sessions are their specialty.

Day or night, this is a neighbourhood that loves to entertain. Slightly offbeat and funky with hints of high-end elegance, Fortitude Valley has it all. Mouth-watering eateries, quirky hole-in-the-wall’s and fine dining destinations. And the nightlife doesn’t disappoint either – you only need look to Bakery Lane, Brunswick and Ann streets with their profusion of nightclubs, music venues and boutique bars, to know what we’re talking about.
American all the way, Ben’s Burgers keeps things simple with its fuss-free menu of burgers, fries and shakes. With only three burgers on the menu, you can mix things up with their extras, such as jalapenos or candied bacon. The menu may be simple but this little joint does a roaring trade.
Winn Lane- 5 Winn St, Fortitude Valley
Keeping the American theme going, Greaser has a bluesy rock n’ roll vibe. The back-alley entry and dingy basement bar adds to all that is great about this place, and the mouth-watering cheeseburgers and southern fried chicken is simply too hard to resist (when in Rome right – or in this case, The Valley).

Come during the day and stay well into the night. Bakery Lane is a design hub with an enviable selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. Check out the designer shopping and creative studios on offer and the food and bar scene is diverse and intriguing.

It doesn’t get much Fortitude Valley than this. Reflecting the areas slightly offbeat vibe, TRYP Fortitude Valley has a playful edge. Creative personalities and street artists have infused their style throughout the 65-room boutique hotel, and the result is an immersive experience unlike any other.

Shedding its industrial past, Teneriffe has become a riverside enclave that’s proving good things really do come in small packages. Fitness is a pretty big deal around here, so make like a local and hit the Teneriffe Riverwalk.Walk, run, ride or glide – however you choose to do it, this foreshore walk hugs the river edge so you know the views are going to be good and the path will be bustling.
