La Banette

A slice of downtown Paris in downtown Glebe, La Banette will transport you to Paris with one bite of their chocolate éclair. The teeny-tiny shopfront exudes French provincial charm with its distressed wooden shelves, chic striped awning and smorgasbord of glazed fruit tarts, cronuts, miniature gateaux, chocolate éclairs, homemade pies and fresh bread.

Black Star Pastry

If you’re not at the Black Star Pastry for the Strawberry and Watermelon Cake, you should be, it’s that good. Real ingredients, real flavours and not a tin in sight. Owner, Christopher Thé, doesn’t do fakery, everything on the menu, from the lemon myrtle chiffon cake to the Tarte Tatins, is made by hand.

There is no denying that Adriano Zumbo hits the sweet spot every time. Famous of for whipping up some of the most mouth-watering cakes and desserts in town, and macarons so delicious they’re now called Zumbarons. For lovers of his colourful macarons, eight-layer cakes, tarts, pastries and darn good desserts, there’s an Adriano Zumbo Patisserie dotted around Sydney to tantalise your tastebuds. '

Petal Met Sugar

Delicate cakes mingled with delicate flowers, Petal Met Sugar is a café-slash-florist and perhaps one of the prettiest patisseries in Sydney. Run by ex-Zumbo patissier, Elsa Li, and florist Angela Wong, Petal Met Sugar delights with sweet treats and Japanese-inspired creations. A special shout-out goes to their Guava Earl Grey Cake and their white chocolate Terrarium globe that’s almost too pretty to eat.

KOI Dessert Bar

Dessert bar, café and cooking school rolled into one sugary empire, KOI Dessert Bar knows the importance of a good dessert. Masterchef contestant and dessert maestro, Reynold Poernomo, is at the helm and delivers mouth-watering Japanese creations including bright green mango yuzu, coconut kalamansi, and yuzu curd and almond sable.

A shrine to all the classic cakes and slices you loved as a child, Flour and Stone is a nostalgic trip down sweet memory lane. Lamingtons, brownies, chocolate tarts, cinnamon buns, ricotta cheesecake and gingerbreads, you name it they have it. And for something savoury, grab a slice of their spelt carrot cake or beetroot and seed cake.

The Sweet Spot Patisserie

The name says it all. This is Randwick’s sweet spot and they know how to satiate any sweet craving. The Greek patisserie pays homage to its Mediterranean roots with pastries, cakes, tarts, biscuits and other traditional treats straight out of Europe. Look out for the pastel blue trim on Perouse Road, order the caramel mousse and you’ll be set.

Berkelo

The garage-like café in Brookvale is peddling pastries, breads and sweet honeycomb blocks to the Northern Beaches masses. Owners Tom Eadie and Matt Durrant bake, mill and churn all their own ingredients to ensure no nasties make it into their kitchen. The result is perfectly flaky croissants, fluffy sourdough and delectable cream-filled choux pastry with salted caramel.

Lorraine’s Patisserie

This patisserie may be small, but it packs an almighty flavourful punch. Pastry prodigy Lorraine Godsmark is the genius behind the little shops melt-in-your-mouth tarts, pastries, cakes and famous rhubarb pie. The open-plan boutique gives sugar fiends the freedom to watch their favourite cakes and slices being whipped, baked and sliced right before their eyes.
