Lifestyle

Understated yet self-assured, Grange is all seaside class. Arguably the most laid-back of Adelaide's beachside suburbs, it is the ultimate destination for those looking for a quiet and relaxed seaside retreat.

Unsurprisingly, Grange Beach is the star of the show–a beautiful and pristine stretch of coastline that has clear blue water and soft white sand. Go for a stroll along the Esplanade and you will soon see how Grange locals like to spend their spare time – a few laps in the ocean and a walk along the water’s edge.

On the weekend, visitors join locals at the Jetty Road Kiosk, enjoying a coffee while soaking up the view. When the sun starts to drop, The Grange Hotel is the place to be. An Adelaide icon for over 130 years, the hotel is known for its seafood and is the ideal spot to watch the sunset.

Venturing further along the beach towards Tennyson, swathes of white sand offer a quieter local-only feel. Dog owners make the most of the wide-openspace, while families are out in full force, especially when the heat index is up. Stepping off the sand, Jetty Street offers a cool reprieve, lined with towering pines and a few shops. On the backstreets, Grange opens up into quiet cul-de-sacs, minimal traffic and a holiday-mode ambience.

With only a handful of eateries and basic services, the area gracefully sidesteps the hubbub and offers a chilled, community vibe. If you need groceries or some serious retail therapy, Grange is a short drive from West Lakes Shopping Mall and within walking distance of bustling Henley Square. When a trip to the city is on the cards, the area is serviced by a direct train-line that runs to and from the CBD, providing an easy and hassle-free commute.

Neighbours

Many families choose to settle in Grange to be near reputable schools and for the outdoor lifestyle it provides. It is also a hit with mature couples and retirees who enjoy the area’s seaside charm, nearby amenities and city train line. Regardless of age or demographic, Grange locals adopt a refined yet casual way of life.

Locals love

It’s no secret – Grange locals are obsessed with the beach and make the most of their secluded stretch of coastline. Families can be found flying kites, teaching the kids to kayak and reclining on colourful beach towels. The Esplanade offers a wide, jogger-friendly walkway that extends north and south, popular at dawn and dusk.

Nestled at the southern end of the suburb, Kirkcaldy Reserve offers a small slice of nature, along with its own private creek – a favourite of families and school kids.

Home to the exclusive Grange Golf Club and a short drive from the prestigious Royal Adelaide Golf Club, keen golfers have plenty of choice when it comes to having a hit.

Property

Grange homes complement, rather than compete, with the coastal beauty. Tastefully restored bungalows, character cottages and modern duplexes blend seamlessly with their sandy surrounds.

Closer to the beach, retro apartments and architecturally-designed homes channel elegant simplicity. Seaview Road, a wide pine-lined street parallel to the beach, features many understated yet expansive mansions, while the Esplanade has multi-million dollar properties complete with water views.
